Halfway done! Last weekend saw the shooting of HOLIDAY, directed by Dustin Harvey and produced by Halley Roback. Congrats to the whole team 🎉

Dalhousie’s Cinema & Media Studies Society’s Short Gala
Event from 6:30 PM - 10 PM

The CMSS is hosting their 2nd Annual Short Film Gala tonight at 6:30 PM.

The program is comprised of eleven shorts produced by students, followed by a Q&A with the directors.

There will be an intermission, and snacks will be provided before the screening.

Semi-formal dress code encouraged!.

Emerging Lens Film Festival

The Emerging Lens Cultural Film Festival returns this April 15 -19, 2026, bringing together film, culture, and community across Halifax and Dartmouth.

Presented by the Charles Taylor Theatre & Media Arts Association, Emerging Lens champions African Nova Scotian and culturally diverse filmmakers by giving them the platform to tell their stories in their own voice.

Arne Bengt Johansson Fellowship

Banff Forum is calling for Canadian artists to apply for their fellowship program.

Deadline to apply is Tuesday, May 5th.

The fellowship will provide 1-3 Canadian artists with the opportunity to join our event in Banff, Alberta, from November 5-7, 2026. The fellowship covers all expenses for the artist to participate in the full 2.5 days of the Banff Forum (including registration, meals during the Forum, travel to/from, and hotel accommodations) and aims to integrate artists into cross-sectoral dialogues shaping Canada's future.

IATSE 849 Film Industry Orientation Now Online

Looking to work on set this summer? Take IATSE 849’s Film Industry Orientation Course!

Formerly known as the Set Etiquette Course, this six-hour program will introduce participants to the world of film and television production, including the customs and expected protocols of working on and around a film set. The content of this module will help set the tone of professionalism for new members of the industry by exposing learners to the values and practices of the film and television industry.

Whistler Film Festival

WNDX Festival of Moving Image is an experimental film festival held yearly in the fall, serving as a meeting ground for experimental film on the prairies. They are calling for Canadian works any length made between 25-26.

The Parrsboro Film Festival is inviting Atlantic Canadian filmmakers to submit films for the 2026 Parrsboro Film Festival short film competition.

The short film competition will take place October 3rd from 9am - 1pm.

The Whistler Film Festival features innovative and original films and voices from around the world and, with the concurrent Content Summit, has become a premier destination for filmmakers to connect, network, and hone their craft.
