FILM 5 APPLICATIONS ARE NOW OPEN
Be part of the 2026/27 FILM 5 creative team cohort!
Running for over thirty years, FILM 5 is a professional and creative development program for writers, directors and producers culminating in the opportunity to produce a short film. It provides cash and in-kind services to produce a short film, mentorship and instruction from industry professionals and relationship building opportunities with the local film community. Applicants will be selected by a jury, and those admitted will begin Phase 1 (Project Development) in October. In December, those teams will pitch to a jury, the selected finalist will receive production funding, entering into Phase II (Production). | Due to the provincial funding cuts, the FILM 5 program will be producing 3 short films, instead of the standard 4. This will also result in a reduced number of Phase 1 participants of up to 6 teams, versus the standard 8. Deadline to apply: midnight, 11:59 PM AST on September 28, 2026. Info session: |

Our mandate prioritizes artists’ books, catalogues, monographs, periodicals, zines, or related printed material. The fair is always free to attend. Khyber Out of Line 3: Call for Participation!
Out of Line is an annual peer-led artistic professional development program that brings together a cohort of 7-9 trans and gender-nonconforming local artists. Out of Line is intended to be a space where you can talk about your work without needing to explain or defend your being. It is also a space to develop professional and community connections that can continue beyond the program. Monthly group sessions will run from October 2026 to June 2027, culminating in a group exhibition with public programming at the Khyber in July 2027. | Out of Line 3 will be facilitated by artists Marley O’Brien and Wren Tian and will include sessions with guest artists Chris Cochrane-Stillwell (Elle Noir) and Truly Am. The program is facilitated yet self- and group-directed, and will develop in response to the interests, needs, skills, and curiosities of the selected group.
